PH, Warri refineries now producing petrol – Kachikwu

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has announced that the Port Harcourt Refining Company and the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company are now producing a combined volume of seven million litres of petrol daily.

Arik Air Operations Grounded Over N12.4bn Debt to FAAN

The operations of Nigeria’s largest indigenous airline, Arik Air, were disrupted by members of several aviation unions on Wednesday morning over an alleged N12.4 billion debt owed the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

Release Jonathan’s cousin on bail, court orders EFCC April 8, 2016

A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, on Thursday ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to release a cousin of a former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Azibaola Robert, on bail.

Justice Olasunbo Goodluck, ruling on Robert’s ex parte application ordered that the bail should be guaranteed by two sureties.

Motorists groan as residents scoop fallen tankers’ fuel

Motorists plying the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway were stuck in a traffic jam that lasted for more than eight hours on Thursday after two tankers conveying petrol and black oil had a collision at the Asese end of the expressway.

Both tankers spilled their contents on the road, which resulted in a gridlock after security agencies cordoned off the expressway.

The traffic, which started around 6am, initially impeded vehicular movement inward Ibadan. It, however, spilled to the other side of the road after impatient motorists began to drive against the traffic.

About 3,000 residents of Rann, the headquarters of the Kala Balge Local Government Area of Borno State, now face different challenges as they now live without food, water and shelter in the newly-liberated community and its environs.

Some of the indigenes of the area, who spoke to journalists in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on Thursday, said after the Nigerian troops sacked the Boko Haram insurgents from the area about a week ago, aid workers had not been seen in the community.

One Umar Lawal, 37, has appeared before a Kado Grade 1 Area Court in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja for allegedly refusing to pay a lady, Augustus Janet after having sex with her.The Prosecutor, Salisu Khaleel, told the court on Thursday that one Augustus Janet of Mpape Village in Abuja reported the matter at the Maitama Police Station on March 21.
Khaleel said that the accused of 12, Negbo Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja, picked Janet and promised to pay her N10, 000 to have sex with her.

Oil firms not paying accurate dues to NDDC – Semenitari

The acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, on Thursday told the joint National Assembly Committee on Niger Delta that all the oil firms operating in the oil-rich region were not fully complying with the law in their remittances to the commission.

The NDDC Act mandates the oil firms to pay three per cent of their annual budget to the commission which is expected to utilise same to carry out its mandate in the region.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met behind closed door with former President Olusegun Obasanjo inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting, which was held inside the President’s office, lasted about an hour.

Obasanjo, who was driven into the forecourt of the President’s office in a black Sports Utility vehicle, cracked jokes with journalists on his photographs with the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, which went viral on the Internet recently before entering the President’s office.

Ex-president Goodluck Jonathan’s cousin, Azibaola Roberts, remains in detention over a $40million (N12.7b) contract obtained from the Office of the National Security Adviser(ONSA) to ‘pacify’ militants in the Niger Delta.
Roberts, who was arrested alongside colleague Dakoru Atukpa, is the Managing Director of Kakatar Construction and Engineering Company Limited and One-Plus Holdings.
Gordy Uche (SAN), accused the EFCC of embarking on a vendetta mission against the ex-President.He said Roberts is being persecuted because of his blood link with Jonathan.

A few days ago, Davido officially signed two new artistes, Mayor Kun and Dremo, to his HKN gang label. Yesterday, he took to his Instagram page to announce that Mayor Kun will be dropping his first video very soon and shared a snippet from the video.
